FAQ's of 4 Cylinder 4 Stroke Petrol Engine Test Rig:

Q: How do I start and operate the 4 Cylinder 4 Stroke Petrol Engine Test Rig?

A: The test rig uses a self-start system with a battery supply. Simply follow the procedure detailed in the provided training manual, ensuring all safety checks, fuel and cooling systems are ready, then use the start switch to initiate engine operation. Instrumentation and digital displays provide feedback during operation.

Q: What key parameters can be measured during engine testing?

A: The rig allows accurate measurement of engine speed, torque, brake horsepower (BHP), fuel and air consumption, cooling water flow, and exhaust gas temperature. These parameters are displayed digitally, and optional computer/data logging further enhances result recording and analysis.

Q: When should I use the emergency stop or engine cut-off features?

A: Activate the emergency stop switch or engine cut-off if an unsafe condition arises, such as abnormal vibration, excessive temperature, fuel leaks, or any situation specified in the training manual. These safety features help prevent damage or injury.

Q: Where can this engine test rig be installed?

A: It is designed for technical laboratories, engineering colleges, and research institutions, with dimensions suitable for most lab spaces (1850 mm L x 900 mm W x 1300 mm H). The open-top, frame-mounted design ensures easy access for instrument adjustment and observation.

Q: What is the benefit of the digital instrumentation and data acquisition interface?

A: Digital instrumentation ensures high accuracy in reading parameters, minimizes human error, and enables real-time monitoring. With the optional computer interface or data logger, users can record, analyse, and review experimental data efficiently, improving research outcomes and learning experiences.

Q: How is cooling managed, and why is a water-cooled system used?

A: The engine is water cooled with a dedicated flow-measuring unit. Water cooling provides consistent temperature control during prolonged experiments, reducing the risk of overheating. The lagged exhaust manifold and heat shields further enhance safety during high-temperature operations.
