FAQ's of 1 Cylinder 4 Stroke Diesel Engine Test Rig:
Q: How is the engine performance evaluated using this test rig?
A: Engine performance is assessed by measuring parameters such as RPM, brake power, fuel consumption, exhaust and cooling water temperatures, and air intake. The rig provides calibrated devices and control panels to record these values accurately during test runs.
Q: What type of dynamometers are compatible with this engine test rig?
A: The test rig supports both rope brake (mechanical) and eddy current dynamometers, offering flexibility depending on the desired level of test automation and measurement accuracy.
Q: When should the cooling water be monitored during engine tests?
A: Cooling water should be consistently monitored throughout engine operation, as indicated by the system's measuring vessel and temperature sensors. This ensures the engine remains within safe working temperatures, typically up to 95C at the water outlet.
Q: Where is this test rig ideally used?
A: The rig is specifically designed for educational laboratory environments in engineering colleges, technical institutions, and research facilities, providing hands-on demonstrations and experimental analysis of diesel engine performance.
Q: What is the process for starting the engine on this test rig?
A: The engine can be started using the supplied cranking handle or, if equipped, an optional electric starter. After initial priming and system checks, the starter is engaged to commence the test procedure.
Q: How is fuel consumption measured on this system?
A: Fuel consumption is measured using a patented, calibrated burette system that allows precise monitoring of the high-speed diesel used by the engine over a given test interval.
Q: What are the benefits of using this test rig in a laboratory setting?
A: It provides accurate, repeatable engine performance data, enhances experiential learning, and supports in-depth studies on heat balance and emissions, all within a robust, user-friendly, and safety-oriented platform.
